A Fresh Start! (A Personal Testimony)

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness – Lamentations 3:22-23

A while back I wrote about loneliness in Christ on my job, and I continued to wonder why I was here and how long I would have to stay in this condition. Around the same time one of my (adult) children was facing a similar circumstance of isolation and separation but on a different scale. The irony was, neither of us was able to help the other, encourage the other or do anything other than try to depend solely on God. During this period of separateness, other people, and/or things, attempted to take the place of the one we needed most – God. How blind I was; at different times I have literally cried to God regarding my condition, not realizing I had created my own barriers, my own separateness, my own isolation. I had replaced the one who had guided me, supported me and often times carried me through the roughest times in my life with….other gods.  Read the rest of this entry »

When Worlds Collide – A Personal Testimony

Dear readers, I will not bore you with why I’ve been away so long; please just know I have missed writing and sharing much more than you’ve missed reading. The good news is that on the surface everything is fine, my faith is still strong, Jesus is still my rock, I am making strides in my work in sharing the gospel with college students and my family is well.

But…..when worlds collide…

The bible says:

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. – Proverbs 22:6

This is what my husband and I held onto our whole lives. We taught, he preached, we encouraged and exhorted. We prayed, we believed and we held onto the promise. That is what you’re supposed to do as a rock solid Christian, right? Well recently, and I will say in the last few years, our faith has been rocked to the core. We have been tried and tested by satan’s influence over one of our children, yet we persevered through it and he seems to be finding his way. I have always been one to pretty much present myself as unshakeable, especially knowing who God is and understanding His ways, but the last few months… Read the rest of this entry »

GUEST POST: GOD and Racism

racism

“WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF EVIDENT THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, THAT THEY ARE ENDOWED BY THEIR CREATOR WITH CERTAIN INALIENABLE RIGHTS” – The Declaration of Independence

Racism has been and is one of the most detrimental social evils ever imposed on the mind of man, and has been one of the main causes for global conflicts, genocidal (ethnic cleansing) wars and mans inhumanity to man; and sadly some of its greatest proponents have been by men who claim God endorses this belief; racism is a core belief that ones skin-color and ethnic background alone makes an individual or people group superior and privileged over others who do not share the same skin pigment and has been used as justification for the oppression, suppression and elimination of cultures other than their own; but for some strange reason the individuals holding to such beliefs automatically make the assumption THEIRS is superior above all others.

Western Europe and America have been particularly guilty of exporting this social evil over the centuries; persons of this mind-set naturally need to find a “scapegoat” to make themselves feel superior by enforcing and flaunting this belief system upon those they deem inferior; historically speaking, some 17th century English speaking Christians while escaping persecution and seeking social justice and freedom for themselves have brought these racial prejudices to Americas shores have at the same time denied it to others all the while carrying a bible in their hands, because they believe the bible says so….                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Gods word has been used to justify slavery, segregation, the mistreatment and murder of minorities, making marriages between people illegal by people of diverse backgrounds solely base on “race”  but is this biblically based? Do these beliefs draw support from scripture?                                                     But from the church that is called by God to be “the pillar and ground of the Truth” (1Tim 3:15) I hear a deafening silence….

Martin Luther King once described Sunday morning worship as “the most segregated time in America”…. Read the rest of this entry »

When a Child Dies

Hi Blessed Readers!

I know that it has been a while since I’ve posted but there have been many stumblingblocks to my writing lately, not the least of which is the new job that I’ve acquired. I am now past the trial phase of that job and that means that I have a few spare minutes to share what God has put on my heart.

First let me explain a little bit of what I do. My work is in the healthcare field, and in my day-to-day job I interact with children with not just special needs, but needs that have to be carefully monitored by on-site nurses. I work with children with cerebal palsy, spina bifida, Down’s Syndrome and many other complicated medical issues. Being there everyday with them will cause so much joy, sometimes sadness with setbacks, but most of all it caused me to reevaluate my own life, principles and needs. I know that personally I took for granted that the things I needed or wanted would always be there, because I serve an “on-time God”; even when things seemed to be at their lowest point I knew that God would come through for me.

But what happens when a child dies? Difficult question I’m sure. I cannot answer that because as of this writing I have four healthy children. Read the rest of this entry »

The Fool…

While watching the Nightly News last week I saw a story in regards to atheist billboards; this was on national news which was interesting. It prompted me to see how widespread this billboard thing really was, and the result is in the following video. Perhaps we can be as proactive as they are in spreading the TRUTH about our savior? Think about it!

(I apologize for the clarity of the video. God’s enemy gave me a fit in preparing it!)

It is well…

Thank you for all of the email inquiries, the text messages (for those who have my number) and general messages in regards to my whereabouts. I am fine! Those who know God know that we are on HIS time, He is not on ours and sometimes He has us do things that we (or someone else) may not understand. With that said, I will be away from the blogospehere for a little while until the Lord tells me different. I trust God and know that He knows what is best for me; if you find yourself not understanding then please pray. I may be away for a few hours, a few days or a few weeks, but I will not write again until He says so.

Thank you all so much for your support of my writing and this I know – I will be back! Please keep the site bookmarked. God bless you,

iampastorswife
