*Guest Post* God on the Downgrade

PREFACE: This following post was submitted by my friend and Brother in Christ Jerry, better known as “BornAgainJerry”. I believe that what he has written was inspired and approved by God, so I have made no edits to his original submission. God is speaking to His people in different ways, and I know that the time is drawing short for God’s people to repent and turn from their wicked ways; so I implore you, dear readers, to take heed to what follows and allow it to minister to you and cause introspection. God bless and thank you Bro. Jerry for taking the time to minister to us!


God On The Down-Grade
There was a time when the very mention of God provoked reverence and fear, but times have changed; I remember as a teenager hanging with my friends fussing and cussing in the streets out of ear shot of our parents, but before we would pass by the neighborhood church we stopped, hushed up and crossed the street “so God wouldn’t hear us”….
now years later when I visit where I grew up, the steps to that same church are now gated
because too many soiled condoms greeted you at the top of those stairs

Even now many who profess to know God show little, if any reverence towards Him; to some the LORD seems to be on extended vacation, or “out of sight out of mind” they no longer believe He is the Omnipresent God, or as the scriptures say “not far from every one of us” (Acts 17:27) a well known proverb says “while the cats away, the mice will play” perhaps that’s why David of the old testament has become the church’s ‘poster boy’ to excuse sin

-One well known 40-ish pastor even used David’s adultery with Bathsheba to down play his own adulterous relationship with a teenaged member of his congregation resulting in a pregnancy when it became public, he compared himself with David, “because at the end of the day, David was still the man” (dismissing it) saying God still used David, at the end of the sermon was applauded (but he left out how God had chastised David)

– Another well known “bishop” divorced his wife after 14yrs of marriage because God told him “He wasn’t called to be married, but to preach” just a week later he remarried, and is now in divorce proceedings, and facing a paternity law suit from another woman

– Another who claims to be ‘the Prophetess to the nations’ praised a gay church for donations and paying her bills, but said nothing about a lifestyle that has eternal consequences

-While a another bishop within COGIC promotes same-sex relationships in the church, says the Satan is a myth, and denies Jesus is the only way to God continues to preach unchallenged by the denomination

– A gospel singer (who now claims to be a pastor) performed on tour being pregnant out of wedlock, was defended by enabling fans against those who objected were told
“Only God judge can me!”

-One pastor in Atlanta is in a same-sex relationship with the “First Gentleman” of the church
and has adopted a baby girl

– in NY a wife catches her husband performing lewd acts with the pastors son, complains and is rebuked by the church, the husband now plans to marry the son, and the pastor will perform the wedding ceremony..!
(They will fight you tooth & nail to defend their pastor- but won’t take a stand for Christ)

What happened to Holiness, without which no man will see the LORD!
(Hebrews 12:14)
God is still the same that requires you to remove the sandals from your feet when you are in His presence, “FOR WHERE THE PLACE YOU STAND IS HOLY GROUND!” (Exodus 3:5)

In Jeremiah’s day people that worshiped God believed He ‘turned the other cheek’ when it came to sin, while on their way to worship they shouted “the Temple of the LORD, the Temple of the LORD, the Temple of the LORD are these!” the prophet stood for God and rebuked them ‘trust not in lying words, but amend your ways and your doings, can you continue to oppress widows, the fatherless, commit adultery, swear falsely, shed innocent blood in this place then come before Me in this house which called by my name and say “we are delivered to do these abominations?! BEHOLD, I HAVE SEEN IT SAYS THE LORD!
(Jeremiah 7:1-11)

Still some today believe ‘they are delivered to do these things’ because we’re under grace, right ..? “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men instructing us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly
in this present time waiting for the blessed hope and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:11-12)

The sinful habits of high profile Christians have become a stumbling block to an unbelieving cynical world and has caused the name of God to be blasphemed and put Christ to public ridicule! Paul charged the church to rebuke those that are deliberately sinning in the presence of all so that the rest may fear and to practice such discipline without showing favoritism (1 Tim 5:20-21)

But nowadays those mentioned above and others think this doesn’t apply to them and God won’t hold them accountable but God says different-
“Why do you talk about my laws? Why do you take my covenant in your mouth?
seeing you hate my instruction and cast my words behind you,
when you saw a thief you join in, you took part in adultery….
I kept silent while you did these things, so you thought I was just like you-!
But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face!”
(Psalms 50:16-21)


Personal holiness requires discipline to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit, maturing in Holiness and the fear of God, for if we judge ourselves we will not be judged and come into condemnation with the world, so let us run with patience the race set before us so that when He appears we will not be ashamed at his coming.

    Brother Jerry, I don’t even know where to start lol. I read the post quickly when you sent it to me, but I had a chance to really sit down and read it today and wow….yes, I have to agree that the state of the “church” today is shabby at best and frightening at worst. Pastors have been forced to come subject to many spirits all under the guise of “tolerance”; their spiritual abuse is excused as “coverings”, and churchgoers are so blinded that they accept it all without question, and even defend it with talk about “judging” or the ever so popular “touch not my anointed”. The problem is that the church is caught up in “Catchphrases” and not The Infallible Word of God.

    1 Corinthians 6:2-3, 8-12

    2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

    3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

    8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

    9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

    10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

    11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

    12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

    Yet we walk around with little to no power, afraid to rebuke in the name of Jesus, too busy to pray for one another; too self-absorbed and trying to gain filthy lucre to care about Satan’s infiltration and takeover of the church. We drink and curse on Saturday night, and dance and shout on Sunday morning. Is that what God wants from us, tainted praise and weak worship? I think not! Anyway, I will stop here…I think that your post spelled it out very clearly and I appreciate you and hope that what you have offered touches or helps at least one person find his/her way back to Christ.     Outstanding post Brother Jerry
    It would appear that God has no place in the church or in the hearts of his people. I too can remember times when I would drive past a church and turn my music completely off in respect for the house of God.
    Today church is big business and a entry level to entertainment. It’s no wonder why people don’t want to go to church.
