Spiritual dumping ground – An illustration

Many of us, at one time or another, have battled with letting go of something or someone that we know would not be pleasing to God. Even though He tells us to cleanse ourselves of all filthiness of the flesh and spirit (2 Cor. 7:1), we find ways to hold on to the “old things” which poison our spirit. In order to be effective ministers and messengers of Christ, we have to get rid of every sin and every weight that so easily beset us (Heb. 12:1). Let Jesus have it and be free. A Sinsual Seduction

Happy New Year To You!

A little over a year ago my hair stylist, at the time, asked me what I knew of the Jezebel spirit. She felt that she was dealing with it in the ministry that she had currently been attending. I found it to be a very odd inquiry at the time because I had just met her, and it was also a question that had never been asked of me before but I promised to bring her a printout of some research I had done into that foul spirit. The obvious question right now would be, “Hey, IAPW why would you have done research on that?” Well, to answer that is simple…because I wanted to lol. Years before then I heard about the spirit, but knew very little about it. You see, we always tend to hear about Jezebel and think that she was just some “loose woman” who seduced kings in the bible, and the word is thrown around in the world to describe “fast” girls. Ohhh but that Jezebel…

A brief history: Before defining this dangerous and influential spirit we need to first understand who Jezebel was in the bible. Jezebel was of pagan birth (Zidonian), her father was Ethbaal, and she married a king who believed on Yawheh, the true and living God. Even though King Ahab was a man of God he was considered evil by the Israelites who had seen kings before Ahab stray further and further from God. Ahab allowed Jezebel to set up worship to Baal, and to promote it as the exclusive religion of Israel and she eventually turned him against God. (1 Kings 16:28-33). Jezebel, as queen, also had rule over 850 pagan priests, and set out to slay the prophets of God. God used His prophet Elijah to challenge the prophets of Baal and, when victorious, God allowed him to slay all of the false prophets. Word of this was carried back to Jezebel by King Ahab, and so infuriated was she that she sent a message to Elijah threatening him, this sent Elijah into hiding. God brought Elijah out to send warning to both Ahab and Jezebel, and eventually Ahab repented of his sins, but Jezebel did not; she refused to submit to the power and authority of God and vowed to relentlessly pursue Elijah. Her refusal to repent of her wicked ways led to her bloody and public demise (2 Kings 9: 29-37). Let’s stop here for a moment. Read the rest of this entry »

“If I Were the Devil…”

by Paul Harvey

“If I were the Devil…..

I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world.

I would delude their minds into thinking that they had come from man’s effort, instead of God’s blessings.

I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people, instead of the other way around.

I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state revenue.

I would convince people that character is not an issue when it comes to leadership.

I would make it legal to take the life of unborn babies.

I would make it socially acceptable to take one’s own life, and invent machines to make it convenient.

I would cheapen human life as much as possible so that the life of animals are valued more than human beings.

I would take God out of the schools, where even the mention of His name was grounds for a law suit.

I would come up with drugs that sedate the mind and target the young, and I would get sports heroes to advertise them.

I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute the mind of every family member for my agenda.

I would attack the family, the backbone of any nation.

I would make divorce acceptable and easy, even fashionable. If the family crumbles, so does the nation.

I would compel people to express their most depraved fantasies on canvas and movie screens, and I would call it art.

I would convince the world that people are born homosexuals, and that their lifestyles should be accepted and marveled.

I would convince the people that right and wrong are determined by a few who call themselves authorities and refer to their agenda as politically correct.

I would persuade people that the church is irrelevant and out of date, and the Bible is for the naive.

I would dull the minds of Christians, and make them believe that prayer is not important, and that faithfulness and obedience are optional.

I guess I would leave things pretty much the way they are.”

Food for thought!

God bless,

Your Fig Leaf

Genesis 3: 7-11 (ESV) Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

For some reason this part of the story always makes me chuckle. Our Creator God, walking around the garden that He created asking His creations, “Where are you?” God is omnipotent and omnipresent, He already knew where Adam was! That is not my focus of discussion however; I want to talk about that leafy green fig that Man and Woman sewed together to hide themselves behind. Adam and Eve were pure, untainted, perfect representations of God. Until… Read the rest of this entry »

Slip Sliding Away…

There is this saying currently that I have heard couples use when they are fed up with each other, “we are on a break”, what does that mean? My own interpretation is that they are taking time off from each other to explore other options or maybe to reassess the relationship to see if it has long-lasting potential, or possibly there is another party involved who is causing dissension in the relationship. In facilitating a marriage seminar last year we were given a lot of reasons why the couples were having issues:

  • Communication
  • Busy Lives
  • Avoidance
  • Stress
  • Family Members/Children

So how does taking a break heal relationship issues? Is it reasonable to suggest that the break could drive a further wedge into something that was initially a strain? Let’s talk about our relationship with God. A lot of times we get weary during our walk, some might even say that the relationship gets “old”, eventually we get so busy in our stressful lives, and with our family members or children that we begin to avoid God which translates to a lack of communication. What this can result in is that we end up in a “backslidden” state. Just like a marital relationship can suffer from moral decay, our relationship with God can suffer from spiritual decay; this does not happen over night, but it can be the result of little seeds planted along the way. The word backslide means “to turn away” or “to turn back”.

O Lord, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee (Jer. 14:7). Read the rest of this entry »

What is in you will come out!

Paul stated to the church at Corinth:

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2 Cor. 7:1).

To be honest, being saved is not a get out of hell free card if we keep defiling ourselves in filth. I have a friend who keeps debating me about her “once saved, always saved” doctrine, but thankfully she is slowly coming around to the truth even though she is yet to change most of her ways. Notice in this scripture it starts with the word “Therefore”; this being the beginning of the sentence suggests that it is a continuation from a passage that came before it. In 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 it says,

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

In the first scripture we see mention of cleansing, and in the second we are advised to not touch the unclean. Well, my previously mentioned friend loves to tell me that she is abiding by these passages, and I do not want to unfairly judge her so I just watch her fruit. Have you ever gone to the grocery store looking through the peaches, or cherries or plums? You will dig, toss and tumble that fruit until you find a few that are unblemished; we are just like that, we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. Like the grocery store fruit needs to be brought home and cleansed before we eat it, Jesus had to cleanse us before we are worthy to worship God. If we eat that fruit from the store without cleaning it it is possible that we will ingest poisons from the fruit being sprayed with insecticides, things that will corrupt our physical bodies. Sign(s) of the times

No, I’m not talking about the Prince song here lol. Let’s see how many of us have been paying attention to the signs, but first:

For the Lord Himself will come down with a loud command, with he voice of the Arch angel and with the trumpet call of God., and the dead in Christ will  rise first. 1 Thessalonians 4:16.

Now, with that out of the way, beware of the soothsayers and “propheliers” who are dating the return of Jesus. I have heard sometime this month, and then in 2012. Jesus himself stated this in Matthew 24:36-44:

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

So I say this, let God’s Word be true and every man be a liar. As for the signs, Jesus again states in the same chapter:

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.

“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come (Matt 24:3-14)”.

More reading on the characteristics of men (and women) in the last days are found in 2 Timothy 3. I encourage you to read, study and fervently pray. Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:6-7).

Stay blessed!
