Things that I have or am personally experiencing or going through. If my testimony can help someone else, to God be the glory!

It is well…

Thank you for all of the email inquiries, the text messages (for those who have my number) and general messages in regards to my whereabouts. I am fine! Those who know God know that we are on HIS time, He is not on ours and sometimes He has us do things that we (or someone else) may not understand. With that said, I will be away from the blogospehere for a little while until the Lord tells me different. I trust God and know that He knows what is best for me; if you find yourself not understanding then please pray. I may be away for a few hours, a few days or a few weeks, but I will not write again until He says so.

Thank you all so much for your support of my writing and this I know – I will be back! Please keep the site bookmarked. God bless you,

iampastorswife

What are YOU wearing?

No, sorry, this post is not about who wore what to which awards show, as if that even really matters in the long run. I had an interesting conversation with a lady at my salon about a week ago; many of you know that I go to a bi-weekly appointment, and I relish bringing the Word of God with me and sharing it with anyone that He puts in my path. The last time that I was there I was in the middle of talking to this lady and I suppose I mentioned that my husband was a pastor, and she responded with a side eye and said, “whoa, whoa, back up…you’re a pastor’s wife?” To which I smiled and responded in the affirmative. She had a quizzical look on her face which prompted me to ask what was wrong; well, her response tickled me: “You don’t look like a pastor’s wife”. Ohhh ok, I felt much better. Of course, with me being me I had to play along for a little bit; I asked her, “so what does a pastor’s wife look like”, and she began to stammer and look embarrassed, then she apologized as if she had offended me. To the contrary, I was humored and thankful, but I still wanted to hear her explanation and I waited patiently for it. She stated that I didn’t dress like a first lady, and that whenever she saw me there that I was always casual and laid back (I don’t know what that has to do with looks, but ohkay!). I got it though, I already knew where she was going… Read the rest of this entry »

Through the Fire! (A Testimony)

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy (1 Peter 4:12-13).

I have always told my family that there are two ways that I do not want to die: one is that I shiver at the thought of drowning, with my lungs being filled with water and not being able to breathe , NOOO! The other way is that I do NOT want to die in a fire; it’s just unfathomable to me, and even when I see the news about a home being on fire with people left in it, my heart weeps for them. It seems such a tragic way to pass! Yet many times we as believers are walking through fire without the flames; the heat of our trial becomes so hot that we feel that we are suffocating, can’t breathe and feel that we may not survive. We have all heard the term “trial by fire”, and it is usually applied to initiations, new employment or some other carnal ceremony or ritual. What about Godly trials? Do you have what it takes to survive them?

Just a little while ago I was listening to a song that had me praising God, and before I got two minutes into it I received bad news on two sides; one came in the mail and the other via the doorbell, and it happened in rapid succession! My trial had begun. After I got a chance to catch my breath for a second, I can be completely honest and say that I began to cry, and I could hardly catch my breath. When my son asked me what was wrong, I told him that I can usually be the strong one, take things to God in prayer and leave it, yet in that moment I allowed the fire to consume me. I told him that it was one thing on top of the next thing on top of another thing, and that I felt that it was more than I could bear. Then I laughed through my tears and remembered that Jesus’ burden was much heavier, as He carried the whole world on His shoulders. When my son asked me how he could help, I laughed again and told him, “only God can help me right now son, thanks”. Read the rest of this entry »

The Nine Commandments

Oh relax…I KNOW there are ten just as well as you do. Yet, some of us unknowingly (or perhaps knowingly) break one of these commandments on an almost regular basis. I can feel the spiritual eye rolls that I am getting right now, but give me a chance to explain! I have to stop and give credit to my husband for planting the general idea of this blog from one of the teachings that God gave him; after laying it before the Lord, and asking my husband’s permission I began this blog. So let’s start from the beginning:

First of all God informs us that it is He who brought us to freedom from bondage (Egypt): this lets us know that He means serious business in what He is about to say. Liken it to your Earthly father who is about to chastise you; he’ll say, “Boy (or girl), don’t you know I’m your daddy?” It’s a rhetorical question because we know who daddy is all the time. Then God begins to lay down the law. It’s pretty cut and dried so let’s review them. And probably what we think when reading or hearing them… Read the rest of this entry »

I met a young lady…(A personal testimony)

…last week.

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares (Heb. 13:2).

I’m not saying that this young lady was an angel exactly, but what I am saying is that it is important for us to treat people in Godly ways, because we never know who God has sent into our lives for His purpose. Our meeting was not a physical one, as a matter of fact our communication has strictly been electronic; she found this blog, she contacted me and we began to exchange exhortations of the Lord. This young lady exhibited a maturity about Christ and His kingdom that is well beyond her years and I was impressed with her grasp of both scripture and faith. It’s funny because I have “met” a lot of people through this site, but none that tugged at my heart the way that this young lady did. As busy as my life is, I found myself waiting in anticipation for her next email and enjoying the back and forth. It certainly seems a lot longer than six days that I have known her.

Some people would dismiss someone young because they feel that perhaps they aren’t “experienced” or “knowledgeable” enough to entertain, but I have always had that mindset that God can use any one for any reason that He purposes. I’m reminded of when my eldest daughter was born. The nurse had placed her in my room in that clear bassinet thing, and whenever I wasn’t asleep neither was she. Her little beady eyes would follow me wherever I went in the room, and she made me nervous. Yes, a newborn freaked me out! I even told my mother, “that baby’s eyes keep following me wherever I go” LOL. To this day my daughter is an observer; she doesn’t say much, but she watches everything! That is how I feel about my new friend; her conversation reads like she has already lived a lifetime. In the time that I have met her God has awakened me at odd hours to pray with and for her, and even this morning at 12:35am He had me turn my lights on to make notes to put into this blog just for her: Read the rest of this entry »

Perfect Peace – In hindsight

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”!

Is it?

Mall of America ramps up security after massive fight – ChicagoTribune.com – More security officers will be patrolling the Mall of America on Tuesday after a series of fights broke out Monday evening, the day after Christmas and one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Embers From Yule Log May Have Sparked Connecticut Fire That Killed Five – New York Post - Connecticut fire that killed a fashion-marketing executive’s three children and parents was possibly sparked by embers from disposed fireplace ashes, the New York Post has learned.

Man dressed as Santa kills six family members at Texas home – Channel 6 Online – A man dressed as Santa Claus shot and killed six of his family members at a home in Texas on Christmas Day, police said on Monday. He then turned the gun on himself.

New Air Jordans cause nationwide shopping frenzy – Newsday – Scuffles broke out and police were brought in to quell unrest that nearly turned into riots across the nation Friday following the release of Nike’s new Air Jordan basketball shoes — a retro model of one of the most popular Air Jordans ever made. The mayhem stretched from Washington state to Georgia and was reminiscent of the violence that broke out 20 years ago in many cities as the shoes became popular targets for thieves.

Homeless but not hopeless

That’s a gritty title isn’t it? A lot of people do not want to deal with the realities of life; they would rather a minister tell them that they are “blessed and highly favored” or that “your blessing is on the way”, but what if that is not in God’s will for you? What if God requires you to endure years of hardship before He chooses to bless you? Will you turn your back on Him, and seek alternate avenues toward your “blessing”? During this season of the year you will both hear stories of people losing their homes, either through devastating circumstances like a fire, hurricane, or another personal catastrophe, or perhaps through a financial hardship. Just last evening watching the news I saw that 15% of the U.S. population are using food stamps to survive. Stuff happens. When you watch those stories on the news do you just shake your head and “tsk” or do you pick up the phone to donate to help? Or are you like many and say, “if not for the grace of God, there go I”? There is NO correct answer here, just introspection.

See, I have been homeless. With kids. And a husband.

Many times we disconnect ourselves with the uncomfortable things of our past because we are just THAT deep. I prefer to embrace them because when I do, I remember that during those times that God’s grace was sufficient for us. I can tell the story from my perspective; if interested, please keep reading. If hardship makes you uncomfortable then…have a blessed day! :) Read the rest of this entry »

Six Months and SO Thankful!

Today, October 27, 2011 marks 6 months that I have been writing this blog. When God showed me that this is what I would be doing it was like a punch in the gut; you see, I do love to write, but I am a very private person. I always keep my thoughts very close to the vest and don’t open them up to many people easily. Being in ministry also made me a little bit leery, but God assured me that this was His doing, and I am writing under His direction. I had NO idea of how I would be perceived and received, but I am so grateful for the almost 6, 000 unique visitors that I have had to the site, and to the subscribers and those who follow certain blogs. It is really encouraging to me to know that people see the God in me, and know that these writings are coming from Him. God has blessed me so much since I started writing this blog, I have a new and very close friend and sister, Evette (see her site The Narrow Way on links), and I have been encouraged by a sister from another site (SC) greatly. Additionally, my brother Pastor Davision has been a blessing and encourager, and in like manner I have been able to encourage others to begin their own writings when they were fearful about doing so, as I was at first.

To my blogging partners, a heartfelt THANK YOU for including me on your sites and directing visitors my way. I praise and thank God for each and every one of you. This journey is far from over, and I look forward to the rest of it. Please continue it with me whether by comments, emails or prayers and I will always be grateful and gracious!

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)

To God be the Glory alone,

Why I dislike Facebook (a personal testimony)

I KNOW that this post will not be popular, and maybe only 2% of the readers will agree with me, but I have truly been praying about Facebook and asking God for guidance in relation to it. Many people love Facebook, and some are even addicted to it; let’s face it, Facebook has become a way of life for some. Where in years past if we could not sleep, we might pick up our phone and call our best friend to discuss why; now we will log onto Facebook and put all of our angst on our “Wall” for the world to see. For a lot of us “Christian” people instead of getting on our knees and crying out to God, we will place our prayer on our “Wall” and sit back to see how many “Likes” we get, instead of waiting on hearing from Him. We seek validation and approval from strangers, and let’s face it, they ARE strangers, instead of approval from the Most High. In my humble opinion it seems to me that for a lot of our Christian brothers and sisters Facebook has become their own personal mega-ministry. Are you mad at me yet? If not, please keep reading…. How I survived spiritual abuse…(a personal testimony)…

Writers note: Grab a comfortable blanket, a cup of tea and a snack. This is just my story that will maybe help a brother or sister in the Lord who may be struggling as I did after escaping an abusive church system. Feedback is always welcomed!

…I received a phone call two days ago from a family member who had also been a church member at the ministry that God delivered us from. This ministry was so spiritually abusive that the members who were able to escape ended up looking like refugees from a concentration camp – in the spirit realm. Anyway, this phone call was to let me know that my former pastor and his wife sold the church (for a half million dollars), packed up the few members who were willing to abandon the lives that they have in that city, and moved south. I do not know which city that they have gone to, but I know that they are in Florida – Floridians, beware! I at first wondered why they would suddenly, after almost 20 years in the same location, sell all, pack up and leave their children, grandchildren and extended families? Then I decided that it is not my issue. Finally, what settled on my heart was what about those who were “left behind”? Read the rest of this entry »
