Ready? Set…..GO!

Dateline: Sunday morning. You get a call and it goes a little something like this (from the female perspective):

Friend: Hey Girl!

You: Hey!

Friend: Where did you go last night, I called you?

You: Girl I went to the club!

Friend: So what you up to today?

You: Ahhh, I’m going to church. I’m tired but I’m going.

Friend: Where you gonna be later?

You: Oh, just probably gonna go hang out for a bit. Then go back to sleep.

Friend: That’s cool, so call me when you want to go hang out sometime. Have fun at church.

You: Thanks girl, God bless you!

There’s a lot of “going” in the above scenario, and the irony is that in all of the going this individual is actually stagnant. If somebody tells you to “go” they usually expect some action to follow their directive right? When you were little and your mother told you, “Go to sleep boy/girl!” you went to sleep, no questions asked. If your spouse said, “honey please go to the store and pick up some potatoes for dinner”, you would go…or else you might not get dinner. If your child runs track you may be in the stands yelling…”Goooooo!” and if they hear you it will give them that boost to turn on the jets and speed up because Daddy’s watching and cheering them on. In the KJV of the bible the word GO is used more than 1,400 times! That is incredible. I am sure that many of us can spout off three or four verses where we have been told to “go”, but do we actually go?  Read the rest of this entry »

Back to School Encouragement

Whether you are a parent who is putting your 5 year old on the bus for kindergarten for the first time, or you are like my husband and I, sending TWO away to college at the same time we all are probably a bit nervous, and already feeling the effects of loneliness, even if we still have other children at home. Maybe it’s just me.

If you are like us and you have been “train(ing) up a child in the way they should go…” then you already know that despite their greatest efforts, the Word says,…”and when they are old they will not depart from it (Prov. 22:6)”. Even having this knowledge we probably still have the apprehension that: What if they do…?, or What about peer pressure? What if they forget? Will they go to church?!? We have to know that the things that we have sown into our children has not fallen onto hard ground, but they are planted into fertile soil which will eventually manifest into good fruit. As parents we ought not be afraid to encourage our children, young or old, with the Word of God; I wanted to share a few scriptures that are on my heart:

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 2 Tim. 2:22

Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. Titus 2:6-8.

Most Important:

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

Well Dad, Mom, that’s about it. If they don’t have one, get them a pocket sized bible (no student wants to carry Grandma’s living room table sized bible to school lol), keep praying for them and let them go. If you think about it, we are really only caretakers for God anyway, everyone belongs to Him and His will shall be done in all of our lives. If it helps, try to remember the day that you left home; you were probably excited and anxious, a little scared and probably immediately homesick. Once you were gone for 3-4 days it was like, “home, huh?” All we have to do is let go and trust God. Isaiah 54:13 states, All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. I believe it, and I thank God for His peace for all parents during this back to school season. Have a blessed week!

A Pastor’s Wife.

Speaking of Music – Gospel Jazz Group ADB!

As a short introduction this anointed gospel jazz group, the Anointed Davison Boyz is a Christ-centered group of young musicians comprised of my “Brother” in Christ, Pastor Brandon Davison, the founder of “Touch Ya Neighbor” blog (see my links). In my last blog I mentioned that there was a remnant of the House of David who were still making music for the Lord – well folks, let me introduce you to a few of them if ya don’t know….enjoy, and if you don’t, email me and I will attempt to eat my son’s trumpet! ;) They say everything tastes better with hot sauce LOL. Without further ado, ADB and “Glory”!

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me (John 12:32)

Please share, tell your friends!

RIP: Gospel Music

Our dear friend, Gospel Music, went to her eternal rest quietly many years ago. We pay a solemn tribute to her today for countless decades of inspiration to our souls, and to the uplifting of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Gospel Music was born in the heart of man and nurtured through the spirit, and her death was a sad surprise to many in the family of Christ. Gospel Music leaves to mourn her a few who are still of the House of David, those who are True Worshipers. As this is a memorial service there will be no viewing or official burial, and we ask that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the remnant of Gospel Music who are still upholding the banner of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice. – Amen.

My grandmother passed away 5 years ago at the age of 92, she was blessed to live a very long life and was still lively and relatively lucid when she passed. At her services I couldn’t help but reflect on my childhood and the many times that our parents would drop us off at her house for her to “babysit”. My grandma would always have her little transistor radio playing on the windowsill in her kitchen AND in her bedroom. She always had a gospel music station playing as well, and it would drive me crazy LOL! Grandma loved to cook, and she would hum her spiritual songs while she whipped up her delicious fried chicken, string beans, corn bread and other delights! Currently when I think about my childhood and the time spent with my Grandma, I cannot recall a day that she was angry or seemed upset; she always seemed to exude a peace that came from within. I remember a song (hymn?) that she used to sing at times:

This joy that I have, the world didn’t give it to me. This joy that I haaave, the world didn’t give it to meeee. This joy that I have, the world didn’t give it to me. The world didn’t give it, the world can’t take it away.

*WARNING* (Stranger Danger) To the Church!

WARNING CHURCHES

As a fellow Pastor and Christian, I feel It is my duty to warn all local churches and church members, especially in the immediate area.

There have been numerous reports of a man coming in many of our local churches and intentionally causing trouble. According to the description I was given, aside from having long hair and a beard, he is described as being rather plain looking, medium height and wears very loose clothing.

There was a report of him entering a church and acting quite berserk. Throwing tables, yelling and frightening allot of people with his violent behavior.

I’ve been told that this man drinks alcohol frequently and according to a very reputable church, has a serious drinking problem. (or as they put it, a drunkard)

He has literally been seen with loose women and other people of questionable character and morals.

He has on different occasions entered some of our finest churches and Tabernacles and intentionally, publicly insulted the priests in front of everyone present.

Hopefully, if this man should try entering your church, your deacons and ushers can be prepared and if you wish, deter him from entering without any kind of violence or scene that could be witnessed by your congregation.

I have heard that several churches have refused to let him enter, though he seems very persistent.

Little else is known about him except that he goes by the name of “Jesus” and comes from a city called Nazareth, located somewhere in one of those “middle east” country’s where all the trouble is going on.

It is my sincere prayer that you or your church do not have to negatively confront this man. Then again, maybe he can be converted, so he could be more like us and no longer a threat to the church.

God Bless You

“Praise Is What I Do” – Enjoy the Video!

When somebody pays off a debt for you, don’t you owe them? I know a person who if they lend you $5 will stalk you every minute until they get all five of those dollars back. I am so glad that Jesus is not that way. He paid my debt of sin off and all that he asked me for in return is continual praise! This song, even without a video is so powerful. David said in Psalms 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” A few of the lyrics in this song state:

I vow to praise you, through the good and the bad. I’ll praise you, whether happy or sad. I’ll praise you, in all that I go through because praise is what I do. Because I owe it all to you.

Tithe or Be Ye Cursed!

Without opening up my bible and without Googling the passage, allow me to quote it the way that my former pastor quoted it, and probably the same way that yours did as well:

Brang ye all the tithes….uhhh….to the storehouse…uhhh….that there might be meat in MY house! And provvvvve me now, saith the Lord of Hosts, that I will not ooopen up a window in Heaven and pour you out a blessing…that there won’t be room enough to receive it! Can I get an AYEMEN? Congregation: ‘Amen’!

I already understand this is a hotbed debate, and I also understand that many people will disagree with me on this issue; however, countless numbers of men and women of God are being manipulated by those who call themselves sent by God. They believe that if Malachi said it, they believe it ends there and that settles it. While standing high and grand in the pulpit these preachers will spout some version of what I stated above, using the word “CURSE” to strike fear in the hearts of the people in order for them to release their purses and wallets. After placing the fear they announce…BUT if you give, He (God) will give it back to you, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Are you afraid of the curse? Well 2 Timothy 1:7 says, For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Where is your treasure?

Let’s be real, we all like nice things and if we are to be honest with one another we probably are pretty fanatical about a certain thing or two. For example, I used to be addicted to handbags and the pricier the better! I have since been delivered from that. but I had other treasures that I had stored up as well which I’ve had to come to terms with. Your treasure can be anything; I had a family member tell me recently that they would not give up their Facebook page under any circumstance. My husband used to be addicted to Madden on Playstation 3, and just like my handbags and I, he has since been delivered but at one time asking that man to not play Madden would be like asking asking a prosperity pimp to not take an offering. ;) Read the rest of this entry »
