Lies my Pastor told me (Pt. I)!

No, not the one that I am married to; he is a true man of God, teaching and walking in the humility and holiness that God requires of him. I am talking about the pastor that I (and probably YOU, at a different ministry) sat under for years before being delivered. Hopefully this blog will enable someone to see their self and free themselves from the yoke of bondage that the many Apostate churches and pastors have placed upon them. That is my prayer. Lie number 1:

  1. ” God requires that if [your family, or friends] do(es) not understand where you`re at in God, wipe the dust off your feet and keep on moving”. Hold it right there! Mark 6:11 says And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. This is Jesus giving instructions to the disciples, and he is explaining to them how difficult that it is to minister in your own city (church, community, family, etc.). Yet he sent them by twos anyway, and guess what? They successfully went out and preached repentance, and also cast out devils and healed the sick! But I thought that Passa said, that we should just `fuggedaboutit` and keep it moving? LIE! Which brings us to Lie number 2: Read the rest of this entry »

Thou Shalt Have NO Other Gods…

Buddha? No. Mohammed? No. Hare Khrishna? No. Ra? Nope. Tutenkahmen? Uh uh. LeBron James? Huh? Barack Obama? What?!?!! Oprah Winfrey? GOD FORBID!

Yet I just turned on the television and this woman, who I have barely watched in the last 7 years is being honored for going off of the air after 25 years at the United Center in Chicago??? This stadium is packed to the gills with starry eyed women screaming their eyes out, and there were many celebrities in attendance to pay honor to her. According to my trusty friend the United Center`s seating capacity is approximately 20,500 people. Before I go on, I need to remind myself and everyone else about 2 Timothy 3;1-7,

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Tell it or sell it.

Just recently I had a conversation with my son in regards to my testimony; we were talking about a lot of things that have happened in my life, and how God delivered me and him and our family through a lot of trials and tribulations. He stated, *wow Mom, you should really write a book*, and I pondered it for a few seconds, but my response was to tell him that God wants me to TELL my testimony versus SELL my testimony. See, this is where I think that a lot of people in ministry get led astray; they put their testimony on Barnes and Noble instead of Barnes Street, and on Oprah instead of Oglethorpe Highway. Jesus instructed us to go into the highways and hedges and compel men to come, so how were we supposed to do that? By the words of our testimony. God has used me to minister to many people with just the words of my testimony. Not only can individuals be saved, healed and set free, but there is a reward for us as well, because we are OVERCOME by the words of our testimony. Although this passage in scripture is in Revelation and it refers to believers triumphing over satan`s power in the last days, it is still relevant now. We defeat a lot of the devil`s tactics by sharing our testimony with others, but not for profit!

Finally, think about the testimony itself. Why does God even give us one? Jesus, teaching about false teachers and signs of his coming tells the disciples in Luke 21:10-15 that your persecution will be for a testimony, and that He will give us the wisdom to speak it. With that passage of scripture it is settled for me: I know that my Savior would want me to tell it and not sell it because those who would benefit the most from my testimony may not be able to go and purchase my words. If the Lord has someone that He want to be saved and they need to hear my testimony in order to get there, then surely they can get it from me for free since Christ already paid the price for me to have that testimony of how *I* overcame. You can find me, not in the local bookstore, but on a highway near you. See you there!

Additional reading: 2 Tim. 1:8-13.

Have a blessed week!

PraiseBots & WorshipBots

Oh come on, you know what they are! They are the “saints” who come to church each week and sing the same songs, clap their hands in unison, and only lift their hands in worship when told to do so by the worship leader. There is little to no reverence in their praise and worship! Come on church, the very fact that God woke you on any given day, not only Sunday, is cause for praise and worship! Before I became a Christian I used to go to concerts or even to the club and all the artist or deejay had to do was to say, “get your hands up”, and hands all over the venue would be in the air. Or he would say, “throw your hands in the air, and wave ‘em like you just don’t care”, the crowd would go wild! How about this one, “somebody, anybody, everybody SCREAM”, people would lose their minds in those places. Is God not as worthy for the things that He has done? Jesus saved your soul, is that not cause for a hand waved in the air? Jesus rescued you from a lifetime of damnation, shouldn’t he be able to get a shout (or scream) of praise? See, the devil loves to mimic what God has done, so when David in Psalms 100 says to “Make a joyful noise to the Lord all ye lands (KJV)”, the devil says, “somebody scream”, and when he says in Psalms 134:2 to “Lift your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord”, the devil says, “throw your hands in the air…”. How sad that we are willing to give more honor to the devil than we are to our Lord and Savior! Think I’m lying, check videos of any Jay-Z, Kanye Worst or Eminem, or Lady Gagme concert.

Don’t be a Praise and WorshipBot, John 4:24 states that God is a spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Thanks for reading!

Sign(s) of the times

No, I’m not talking about the Prince song here lol. Let’s see how many of us have been paying attention to the signs, but first:

For the Lord Himself will come down with a loud command, with he voice of the Arch angel and with the trumpet call of God., and the dead in Christ will  rise first. 1 Thessalonians 4:16.

Now, with that out of the way, beware of the soothsayers and “propheliers” who are dating the return of Jesus. I have heard sometime this month, and then in 2012. Jesus himself stated this in Matthew 24:36-44:

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

So I say this, let God’s Word be true and every man be a liar. As for the signs, Jesus again states in the same chapter:

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.

“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come (Matt 24:3-14)”.

More reading on the characteristics of men (and women) in the last days are found in 2 Timothy 3. I encourage you to read, study and fervently pray. Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:6-7).

Stay blessed!

What are THEY doing?

Many times in ministry we have the tendency to base our progress on what the next ministry is doing. How many times have we checked the website, blog, Twitter page, newspaper or even driven by another church to see their latest happenings? Can we consider that a form of envy or covetousness? What we need to know is that it is completely unimportant what the next ministry is doing, you have to be in the place where God needs you to be in order to be effective. If God called me to be the janitor at Walmart, I cannot look at the grocery manager and covet his spot. Why? Because perhaps God will have someone come and slip on a juice spill, and I’m the one to help them up & clean up the mess. He may choose that one moment in time, for me to share the love of Jesus Christ with that person. If I’m out of my spot then I miss the opportunity to minister to that person.

I remember several years ago that the Lord had us rent a tiny church building and begin to have a weekly service there. We were pretty young in Christ at the time, but were eager to follow God’s direction for us. My husband would preach to the walls most days, and maybe one or two people would trickle in at times, but there was one day that we were on the street outside of the church and a man who looked like he was homeless, or maybe even criminal, came down the street. We began to talk and minister to that gentleman and he gave his life to Christ at that very moment. Shortly thereafter, the landlord of the building re-took possession of it and our “church” was done. My husband did not understand why we would even open a church just to close it. I reminded him that the angels in heaven rejoice for just ONE soul being saved, and he recalled that young man on the street. Had we not been obedient to God, even when no one came, that soul would have been lost.

So it doesn’t matter what Magnificent Mega Ministries Church of God in Christ of the Apostolic Baptismal Pentecostal Faith is doing at this present moment, just stay in your lane, keep your mind stayed on Jesus, study to show yourself approved unto God, fast and pray and watch God glorify Himself in you and YOUR ministry!

The last two days…

The last two days have been a media firestorm of controversy and I am so glad that tonight is our bible study lol! Bin Laden this, Obama that, but Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever more thank God! The purpose of the media is to have people take their eyes off of what is important, just like a con man’s shell game; he will distract you with the slick talk and have you believing that he really is that clever, yet you took your eyes off of the shell for one quick second and he was able to switch shells/balls or whatever. It’s a sleight of hand. Our bible says that “whose mind is STAYED on Him (God) He will keep in perfect peace”, so don’t fall for the okey doke of the world and miss what Jesus is saying to the church. Have a blessed week!

In the news…

There has been a lot of talk today regarding the capture and killing of one of America’s greatest enemies, but you cannot always believe the mainstream media. Let God’s Word be true and every man be a liar. The Lord specifically addresses our enemies, In Matthew 5:44 it says “Love your enemy, bless them that curse you…”, also in Romans 12:20 we are instructed to feed our enemy if he hungers and to give him drink if he thirsts. For God so loved this evil world that He gave His only begotten Son…and what do we do when the media tells us that someone “evil” has fallen? Rejoice in the streets and sing patriotic songs? NO! Now, more than ever, we need to pray, fast and seek God’s face. I never really liked the “sky is falling” rhetoric, but if we were to follow the signs outlined in scriptures, the times are looking pretty perilous, so for me, making sure that my soul is ready for Jesus is of paramount importance. Don’t be like the foolish virgins and not have oil for your lamp. Turn OFF the biased media and use your discerning spirits to hear what the spirit of God is saying to the church (YOU). Be blessed and stay prayerful!

Making time for family!

Hey, it’s Sunday!!!

I remember back in the day when my oldest two children were just babies, the church that I attended had a Sunday morning prayer service at 8:30 am, Sunday School at 9:30 am, and morning worship at 11:00 am. Morning worship would usually end at about 2:30 pm, and we would have to be back for Sunday evening service at 7:00 pm and if we were lucky we would be out by 10:30 pm. That was our Sunday! We also had Tuesday night “bible study”, which usually ended up being another service and it started at 7:30 pm and went until finished, usually close to 11:00 pm. We had Thursday night choir rehearsal, and Friday evening service at 7:30 pm until “close” lol. If you’re counting you know that between work and church that never left much free time in the week for family stuff. Our church usually required us to help out on Saturdays with cleaning, or cooking for some event or working the food bank, and other activities, which we never minded because we did all things as unto the Lord, but in hindsight we realize that our pastor took advantage of our naivete’ and “newness” in Christ and eagerness to serve God.

Fast forward almost 15 years and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus would not want us to neglect our family. Jesus instructs the husband to love his wife as Jesus loves the church; since we are the church and we KNOW how much Jesus loves us, that puts a whole new meaning on the husband loving his wife. We need to make sure that God’s business of soul-saving is taken care of, be disciples at all times and even in that, take care of your family. What do I mean by “taking care of”? Well, spend quality time with your children, not just the church family…the family that God gave you. Don’t neglect your children so that they end up resenting the church, thus God. Do fun things with them, even if it’s sitting around the family table once or twice a week; go out for ice cream, walk around the mall or the lake. Just sit down and talk to them and ask them how their week has been. Avoid close-ended questions like, “how was your day”, they will just respond with “fine”, one and day. Really talk to them like this, “so, tell me about your day”, or tell them an anecdote about yours and see if they follow up.

Husband!!! Make time for him. Your relationship should not always be centered around those kids. Take a walk with him. Ask him about how he feels his sermons went, ask him about his work week, BUT do not cut him off mid-sentence to tell him how much worse yours was lol. Let the man talk! Our husbands spend so much time working at work AND at church that they need an outlet. You’d better become one unless some she-wolf tries to replace you. Hold his hand, put your arm around him. Let the man know that you love and appreciate him. If you must reject the physicality aspect, do it with love and compassion explaining why, don’t just say, “no, leave me alone” or “not tonight I have a headache”. If that is the case, substitute something else, give him a back rub, massage his tired muscles or make his favorite dessert. Give the man something! He is your husband and you are his wife. Act like it sister!

Take care of your family and they will take care of you, in Jesus’ name!
